Hmmm…life on tea
TITLE: Hmmm…life on tea
Chapter 1
As the sky became dark and started to thunder, he was sitting on his bed under a blanket near the window sipping on a cup of tea. Suddenly, he put the cup on the table beside him and ran outside. He realized that his wife had left some clothes to dry on the clothes line in the backyard. As he took all the clothes inside the house and put them in the dryer, it started to rain heavily. Then the phone rang. It was his wife calling to ask him whether he needed soup or medicine from the store for his cold.
He decided to make some tea for his wife and himself and then turned the TV on. The news anchors were talking about the weather and flooding in some parts of the city. He turned on the stove and placed some Jasmine tea in the water and went to watch the TV. He heard a loud thunder near his backyard that made him jump from his seat and then the power went out. He decide to sit on the recliner and rest until his wife came back home.
Chapter 2
He didn’t realize that he dozed off until he heard his wife in the kitchen. The rain and thunder had stopped and the power was back. It was getting dark and he could the croaking of frogs and the chirping of crickets outside. His wife started discussing the increase in price of groceries with him while making the Jasmine tea that he left on the counter when the power went out. But all he could hear was a pounding sound in his head. His head was aching and he needed to take a medicine soon.
He walked up to his wife, still talking about the rise of grocery prices, and rested his head on her shoulder. She suddenly stopped talking and placed her hand on his head. He could her heartbeat along with the pounding sound in his head like the beats of a drum. He then decided to go back to rest on the recliner until the tea was ready.
Chapter 3
He wanted to watch TV but he couldn’t because he knew his headache would become worse. His wife gave him a cup of tea that he accidentally held by the bottom and almost dropped some. He took a sip and thought to himself, Ahhh…the warmth of hot tea, hopefully this will help. Couple of minutes later, the tea was gone and so was his headache. He was also feeling happy that he didn’t have to go to work for couple of days and could rest at home. He decided to channel surf to find something to watch on TV. Surprisingly, with all of the variety of channels that were available through his cable, he was having a difficult time finding something interesting.
He stopped on a channel showing auctioneers auctioning herds of livestock from different ranches around the country. He found it interesting that the auctioneers could talk so fast yet people were able to somehow understand them. As he continued to listen to the auctioneers, he felt like he was being pulled into a trance. His wife came to ask him whether he wanted some more tea and to him she started to sound like an auctioneer. He shook his head to pull himself out of the trance and asked her for more tea.
