Best Buy to sell Apple iPhone 3G

Best Buy announced that they’ll be carrying the new iPhone 3G in their retail stores. Now iPhone fans have one more avenue to buy it from and not limit themselves to waiting in line at an Apple or an AT&T store. Since Best Buy locations exist in many locations, more people will have access to a retailer that sells an iPhone. Best Buy is expecting to sell the iPhone 3G for a price of $199 for the 8-GB model and $299 for the 16-GB model. iPhone 3G purchases at Best Buy still require a new two-year contract with AT&T, similar to the Apple and AT&T Store.

New features in the Apple iPhone 3G:

  • 3G networking - faster data rate
  • GPS
  • version 2.0 of the iPhone software
  • Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync - to synch your Outlook email
