YouTube - a great product

YouTube I believe is one of the greatest web based technology ideas that currently exists on the web. When a person thinks about the idea behind YouTube where a website allows users to post videos so that other users can view it, it seems like such a simple idea that anyone could’ve thought about.  I believe it gained popularity among internet users because it provides regular people like you and me the ability to express our personality to the whole world for FREE. Before YouTube, most internet users wanting to express themselves through video didn’t have much option or otherwise would’ve had to pay for them. YouTube provides this sense of freedom in a world full of rules and regulations just like how a blog provides everyone the ability to write and express themselves and their opinions.

Keep doing what you are doing YouTube!!

Google’s 2006 year-end Zeitgeist

Friday, December 29th, 2006

It looks like the top searches in 2006 according to Google were:
bebo,myspace,world cup,metacafe,radioblog,wikipedia,video,rebelde,mininova, and wiki

According to their post, they do not create their list from search terms that popular overall because those terms are usually just generic words such as ‘ebay’, ‘dictionary’, ‘games’ e.t.c. Instead they look at the search items that are popular in 2006 and compare it to see how popular they were in 2005. If their popularity increased a lot from 2005 to 2006, those items are then included in the Google Zeitgeist

You can see their lists of popular search terms at:
